Amanda Kohn - Joining Lago as a Geologist

Lago Petroleum Consulting is pleased to announce that Amanda Kohn has joined our team as a Geologist.

Ms. Kohn has eight years of experience spanning a variety of geoscience and program management roles, including positions with Schlumberger and Contour Resources. While at Schlumberger, Amanda was focused on delivering technical G&G support, consulting and training using the Petrel software suite. Petrel experience is centered on developing workflows from seismic interpretation to advanced geological modeling and volumetric calculations. At Contour Resources she developed new prospects and built earth models. Areas worked include conventional and unconventional plays in the Permian, DJ, Powder River, Mid-Continent and Williston Basins, as well as offshore Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea and West Africa.

Amanda holds both Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Geology from Kansas State University.

Her detailed CV is available upon request.

Foam Glow 5K - September 2015

In September, Team Lago took part in the Foam Glow 5K in Denver. This annual run/walk supports the Children's Miracle Network and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A shout-out and thank you to all those who were able to join and “Glow” with us! It was a fantastic time for a great cause.

$7,242 was RAISED for the Children's Miracle Network and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital charities.

 Thanks for all your support!

Thank you for entering Lago’s “Guess the Price” Sweepstakes.  While I’m sure all of you have been waiting with baited breath for the Sweepstakes results, we at Lago Petroleum Consulting have been mourning the low oil price environment - which seemed to fall ever lower as our price deadline approached.  However, it is time to reflect on our price analysis, and we are happy to announce the winners.

Having assumed validity for each estimate of the March 16th WTI closing price, we had a P50 price of $54.30/bbl.  Our P90 price was $47.80/bbl, while P10 was $64.00/bbl.  It is abundantly clear that we explorationists are optimistic by nature, because the actual closing price on March 16th was just $43.88/bbl.

Congratulations to our winners!  The top three players in our challenge were (drum roll please)…

1.    Tom Hewett of Enerplus, who won the Great Prognostication Award with his estimate of $44.49/bbl!

2.    Brian Murphy of Newfield, who was a close second, predicting $42.95/bbl.

3.    Lisa D'Ambrosia from Aspect Energy, who came in third with a prediction of $44.85/bbl.

Again, thank you for playing!  Please visit us at for information on future events.

During the past six months, everyone involved in our industry has been watching daily oil price fluctuations. Pundits have expressed wildly variable predictions for oil prices during the coming 12-24 months.

Try your hand at oil price prediction by entering Lago’s “Guess the Price” sweepstakes.

Visit and complete the entry form on the Sweepstakes page- including your estimated WTI price per barrel for the March 16, 2015 closing. The closest five entries will be entered into a drawing for a Lago gift basket. All entries must be received by 5:00 PM (MST) on March 2, 2015.
