Job Description
Perform part-time/ contract IT support and computer networking for small oil and gas consulting firm located in Downtown Denver. Hours per week will vary based on needs but will likely be 16-24 hours per week.
Must work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, but also be able to function independently and creatively. Abilities to multitask, prioritize, and meet project deadlines are required.
Desired Skills & Experience
Windows and Linux experience required. Oil & gas industry software experience is highly desirable (Landmark, Petrel, SMT, Petra, Hampson-Russell, Transform and/or Geographix)
Job Details
· Under general supervision, performs intermediate hardware server setup, installation and configuration of the operating system, new software application releases and upgrades.
· Executes a backup and recovery process for all data systems.
· Assists in capacity planning and determines equipment specifications for purchase.
· Assists in maintaining day-to-day operations of servers, hardware, operating systems, security and data protection.
· Monitors, tunes, diagnoses and resolves intermediate operating system problems.
· Develops and implements intermediate scripts to automate common functions or system operations.
· Configures and defines system resources.
· Provides On-call services
· Researches, evaluates, and recommends new infrastructure components and operational related technologies, especially those that demonstrate the potential for economic savings, increased productivity, or improving service.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR: Operation and management of computer systems is complex and requires diligence to ensure consistent service at a reasonable cost. Consequences of error can be considerable, affecting both services and costs, especially as relates to systems downtime, integrity and protection of data, and the implementation and management of technologies used to support business applications.
CONTACTS: Work involves frequent and on-going professional contact at all levels, including management, end users, outside vendors, and technical staff.
INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT: Work is performed independently. Incumbent must be able to use individual judgment and problem-solving skills to accomplish goals and achieve desired results.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in a typical office environment. Ability to work beyond scheduled hours and respond to after hour’s calls in a time critical manner is required.
